Ford Ironman World Champion returns to Kansas
Chrissie Wellington to defend her title at the K-Swiss Ironman 70.3 Kansas Triathlon

Chrissie Wellington, three-time Ford Ironman World Champion, will return to Lawrence, Kansas to defend her title at the K-Swiss Ironman 70.3 Kansas triathlon on Sunday, June 6th.
"Kansas 70.3 has everything I look for in a race: a strong pro field; a beautiful, challenging course; heaps of enthusiastic spectators; dedicated support for charitable causes and an awesome, vibrant community spirit. Running along the 'yellow brick road finish line' last June topped off an incredible journey somewhere over the rainbow, and I cannot wait to come back and defend the Kansas crown this year!" said Wellington
Even a flat tire on the bike course in Kansas last year did not stop Wellington from winning the race at Clinton Start Park. After winning the K-Swiss Ironman 70.3 Kansas race, Wellington went on to set a new course record in Kona, winning her third Ford Ironman World Championship in a row.

“Having an athlete like Chrissie at our event adds to the great festive, family atmosphere of this race. She is such a wonderful ambassador for our sport and she brings such great enthusiasm and competitive spirit to the race. We look forward to seeing her click her running shoes three times at the finish line and saying – ‘There’s No Place like Home,’”, said race director, Tom Ziebart

The Cycle & Fitness Firecracker Triathlon is a sprint triathlon with a ¼ mile swim, a 12.9 mile bike and a 3 mile run. The race takes place in Southwest Michigan at Jean Klock Park in the city of Benton Harbor. A new golf community called Harbor Shores has a great new golf course that is the backdrop for the triathlon.
The swim will take place in Lake Michigan and will be a rectangle course. Athletes will swim with the current and the water temperature will be between 62 and 72 degrees, so wet suits will be allowed.
The bike course will be a one loop 12.9 mile ride through rural roads in Berrien County. The course does have a few small climbs, but no major hills.
The run course will be an out and back course with a great finish next to the beach in Jean Klock Park.
The Harbor Shores 5K Run will take place on Friday, July 2, 2010 at Jean Klock Park in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
The 5K course will start and finish at Jean Klock Park right next to the beach and will go through the new Harbor Shores residential neighborhood around the park.
Welcome to the Fifth annual Cycle & Fitness Firecracker Triathlon. The event will take place on July 3rd in 2010 at 8:00 AM in Jean Klock Park in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
The Cycle & Fitness Firecracker Triathlon is a great race for both the veterans and newbies in the sport. The area offers a great “weekend beach vacation” for anyone getting out of the city for the July 4th weekend.
Cycle & Fitness Firecracker Triathlon would not be possible without the great support of the community and sponsors. We would like to thank St. Joe. Cycle & Fitness, Pizza Hut, Aquaman, Seamans Ford, Gatorade, GU, TYR and the city of Benton Harbor.
Good luck with your training and we hope to see you at the event.
